“Sitting quietly, doing nothing, Spring comes, and the grass grows, by itself.” Playing in between the sun and shadows, the House of Basho, is a retreat home exuding a sense of calm with a slow living feel and earthy charm. |  |
 | When we were approached to redesign their ongoing project, as the clients were not happy with what was happening on site, it was a challenge since the shell was already built, with lot of closed spaces. |
 | The main intent was to physically open up the spaces and create softer edges to connect the house to its surroundings visually and physically. |
| We carved the inner courtyard to create open living spaces to enjoy the slowness of the day with soft screen shadows moving across the walls and the gorgeous blue skies. |  |
 | The sunken living , is one of our favourite spaces in the house , connecting one to the ground and to the outdoors. The design encourages both relaxation and social interaction, making it the perfect space to unwind or entertain. |
| The open plan kitchen and dining create a warm earthy atmosphere with a mix of warm wooden finished and the concrete countertops. |  |
 | The interplay of textures adds depth and character to the space, making it both stylish and welcoming. |
| Large ceilings and expansive windows, fill the space with natural light, creating a sense of airiness. The plaster walls add a soft, organic texture, further expanding the feeling of space. |  |
 | Together, these elements come together to create an environment that feels both expansive and intimate, where the boundaries between interior and exterior are subtly blurred. |
